Thank you Cees for your precious advice which I will certainly take on board.

To answer your question, the radio is in a cabinet which also includes a Dual record player. The problem show when playing records and when playing music via the 'aux' input.

Thanks again.

@Tjerk,
Fstad 14 heeft maar 1 keer ELL80 se voor beide kanalen.

@ TS,
Try to get a new ELL80 tube , if this not solve the problem right now , after a few years you will need this rare tube :-)
The ECC83 is rather cheap to replace . capacitor C415/C515 are live savers for your radio, pleace replace them !
Questuon : Do you also hear one channel on tape or phono input?

Tube contacts rarely cause issues. Sockets do. But in this case try swapping Rö 403 and Rö 503 (ELL80) to see if the distortion moves to the other channel. This is the first, easy step.

Note that this is a Dutch language forum, you may want to try an English forum like Vintage Radio .

Hello Friends, I am new to this blog and I have to apologise to be a bit of a novice. I found a very comprehensive blog regarding the Saba Freiburg 14 article on this blog which google translate helped me decipher. I know this is a shot in the dark but I am hoping someone can give me a few pointers. I have a Saba Freiburg 14 which has been in my family for decades. All works just great except for one thing: the sound coming out of one of the channel is distorted. I have only been able to establish that the problem is not with the speakers by connecting external ones (i.e. connecting external speakers via the connectors designed for this purpose show the same issue).

Has anyone come across this type of issue and is there an obvious thing I need to check (other than cleaning the tubes contacts) or any other easy troubleshooting tips I can use to narrow down the problem. I will ultimately consider taking the radio to a repairman but i'd like to try anything I can do to limit costs of repairing it.

I have had a similar problem in the past with an old Kenwood amplifier and the problem was resolved by just due to oxidation on a transistor solder point.
